Put Down the Screens and Pick Up the Paint!
My wife and I are constantly telling our kids to put down their phones and get away from screens. We’re afraid they’ll turn into sleep-deprived, wide-eyed staring zombies. Unfortunately we never think about what screens are doing to us as adults, how they’re rewiring our brains. We've been trained to immediately respond to that magic little tone, the one that gives us our daily affirmation. Did you know the average person checks their phone or device every 12 minutes? It’s insane. The real problem with this addiction is that we can’t mentally turn off, we can’t focus when we’re constantly being disrupted every minute of the day. It makes it harder for us to concentrate on anything else. We need a break, our brains need rest. So how do you break the pattern?
We’ve got the answer. At Bottle & Bottega Homewood, we give you something completely different to do with your hands and a totally different mindset to get you calm and focused. Partaking in the paint and sip experience is a tactile, organic process that incorporates all five of our senses; touch, vision, hearing, taste and smell and is almost exclusively a screens-free experience. Most of the night centers around getting back to the basics, getting our hands dirty, drawing, painting, eating and drinking…bonding. When the screens do come out during breaks and at the end of the night they’re used to capture the fun, they aren’t the fun.
