Dog Day on TV: Behind the Scenes with Channel 12
As much as we’d love to play it cool and be totally nonchalant about it, we gotta be honest: Being on TV is awesome! And utterly nerve racking. While we’re no strangers to talking in front of large groups, there’s something about that big camera that’s a total game changer.
Despite our jitters, we had such a wonderful time chatting with James from More Good Day Oregon KPTV Channel 12. When he approached us to do a segment about our popular FUNdraiser, #PaintYourPetPDX, we jumped at the chance. Combining animal rescue with art is proving to be as sweet of a combination as art and wine. Of course, there’s still wine involved!
Over the past year, we’ve raised $12,000 for local rescue organizations. We’ve partnered with the Oregon Humane Society, Family Dogs New Life, the Pixie Project, Deaf Dogs of Oregon, NW Bulldog Rescue and Mountain Peaks Therapy Llamas and Alpaca. Yup, we definitely brought a llama into the studio but that’s a story for another time.
So far in 2019, we’ve hosted 3 sold out events, benefiting Oregon Dog Rescue, and have two more on the calendar. We even brought along an Oregon Dog Rescue alumni for filming. Of course, he totally stole the show. We just couldn’t compete with those sweet puppy eyes.
Speaking of cute pups, Holly had a little surprise waiting for James. We had done our research and discovered via Instagram that James and his wife had the most adorable rescue dog, Norman. Holly, our pet portrait extraordinaire, had a special, customized pet painting for him to take home. He spotted it immediately!
